What happens when you pixelate an image?

Pixelation replaces fine visual detail with larger blocks that represent nearby colors. As the blocks grow, small features become harder to distinguish and the image takes on a mosaic-like appearance.

The right strength depends on your goal. A creative effect can retain recognizable shapes, while hiding a face or line of text usually requires larger blocks and a careful review of the output.
