How to Pixelate a Face Online

Hide a face before you post a group photo, share a school event, or send an image outside your team. You can cover one person while leaving the rest of the photo clear.

Quick steps

  1. 1Open your photo and choose Selected Areas.
  2. 2Drag a rectangle over each face, or use the brush for an irregular outline.
  3. 3Increase the pixel size, compare the result with the original, and download the edited file.

Choose a block size that hides identifying features

Small blocks create a stylized effect but may leave eyes, facial shape, or other features recognizable. Increase the pixel size until those details are no longer clear at the size people will view the photo.

Check every selected face before exporting. If the image may be enlarged later, inspect the downloaded version at full size as well as in the smaller social-media preview.

Pixelate one face without changing the whole photo

Selected-area editing keeps the setting, clothing, and unselected people sharp. Add separate selections when faces are far apart instead of covering the space between them.

Pixelation is useful for casual sharing, but it is not a substitute for a formal redaction workflow when an image is part of a legal, medical, or security process.
